Brain Rays is the solo project of Benjamin Hudson (usually one half of noisy hip hop duo Baconhead) and is a soundtrack for low lights and late nights.
Featuring the silken tones of Nigerian born, London raised vocalist Theo Ogundipe, and the melted guitar of Cape Khoboi, Brain Rays’ debut album Music For Abandoned Beach Parties warps lo-fi house and funk to provide a warm and gentle hand back onto the dance floor when logic would have screamed at you to leave the party several hours ago.
“I really like the record. Great woozy and dusty vibe”
- iTAL tEK
(Planet Mu/Atom River)
"Like an after-hours soundtrack with exactly the right amount of sexiness and sleaze"
- DJ Donna Summer
“Brain Rays injects light into pure night time with this superb mini LP. A soothing fudge of bassline, colour and deliberately late rhythms bound together in the reverb of a shiny perspex sphere.”
- Neil Landstrumm (Scandinavia/Planet Mu/Mosquito..)
"Brain Rays find that sweet spot between can't-stand-up and just-gotta-move ... It's a lysergic drug, I love it"
Gabriel Stebbing (Night Works)
"what Ibiza would sound like if only intelligent people went there."
- Eddy Temple Morris (XFM)

Elaquent’s music recalls Oddisee’s instrumental work and Flying Lotus’ Cali-infused electronica. On “Worst Case Scenario,” the composer emotes a pastoral essence. Bandcamp Album of the Day Dec 16, 2016
